We’re probably going to have near daily updates and rumors on the iPad 3 from now until it’s released in March. Today’s rumor? The iPad 3 is probably going to look quite similar (physically) to the iPad 2.
Chinese site Apple.pro, which is a reliable source for Apple hardware rumors, just released a photo of the alleged front screen of the iPad 3, featuring the same 9.7-inch size, the same round bezel, and the same home button.
The differences? The iPad 3’s screen has a longer ribbon cable on the side of the display, for the increased 2048×1536 resolution.
Apple.pro’s recent post also contains additional details about the next generation iPad. That A5X processor we posted yesterday? It’s not quad-core after all; It’s dual-core, which is a bit of a disappointment. Of course, it’ll still be a significant upgrade either way.
We haven’t heard much about Siri, and there hasn’t been much talk of whether or not the personal assistant might show up on the iPad 3. Well, according to Apple.pro, we will indeed be seeing Apple’s snarky little darling on the tablet.
There’s also been a limited amount of information on the cameras that will come with the iPad 3, but Apple.pro says they will be similar to the cameras installed in the recent iPhone 4S, with a 1080p resolution and image stabilization. Leaked photos of the rear of the iPad 3 do show a space for a larger camera lens, so undoubtedly, camera upgrades are in the works.
We’re expecting the iPad 3 to be announced on March 7th, but Apple.pro’s report adds that the iPad will be launched shortly after that announcement, in mid-March. The iPad will then come out in Japan, the U.K., France, and Germany in April, with Hong Kong to follow soon after.
